It was reported earlier that Vidya Balan will act in Sanay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala opposite John Abraham with whom she was romantically linked during the making of Salaam-E-Ishq. But the latest news is that the actress has turned down this offer because after the success of The Dirty Picture, Vidya don’t want to act in a film where her character is dominated by male actor.

A source close to the actress told Mumbai Mirror, “Shootout At Wadala is a male centric film. The heroine has quite a lot to do in it. But after The Dirty Picture, Vidya wants to avoid such roles.”

Shootout at Wadala is based on Mumbai underworld and Vidya was reported to play the role of Manya Surve’s girlfriend.

Ekta Kapoor who produced The Dirty Picture is also producing Shootout at Wadala but Vidya’s refusal wouldn’t sour their relationship.

A close friend of Vidya said, “There is no animosity between Vidya and Ekta over Vidya’s decision to opt out of the film. They have decided to work together in the near future.”

The friend added, “Vidya wants to work with Gupta. She loves his style of filmmaking. It’s just that she does not want to get lost in a project crowded with a lot of men. It’s just a natural progression in her career.”

There is no doubt that Vidya Balan is on cloud nine these days because of the success of her recently released ‘The Dirty Picture’. Everyone has praised her performance in the film. Even Kareena Kapoor who is wearing the crown of number one actress in Bollywood also praised Vidya’s performance in the film and it was reported that Kareena will play as hard-hitting character in ‘Heroine’ as Vidya did in ‘The Dirty Picture’. When Vidya was asked about it, she said, “It can’t get dirtier than ‘The Dirty Picture’. They could make a ‘Heroine’ but no one will be able to make ‘The Dirty Picture’.”

Well! We wonder how Kareena Kapoor would take Vidya’s taunt.

Vidya Balan is already in news these days for her sizzling performance in her upcoming film ‘The Dirty Picture’. Tomorrow Vidya Balan’s ‘The Dirty Picture’ is slated to release and today first look of Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani’ is unveiled.

In ‘Kahaani’ Vidya has played the role of a pregnant woman who will search her missing husband. Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller will be released in March 2012 and the buzz is that film is inspired with Hollywood action thriller Kill Bill.

First look of ‘Kahaani’ seems powerful, hope that Vidya would have given her great performance in this film too.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has worked along with veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’. Even Vidya and Naseeruddin have been featured together in famous ‘Ooh La La’ song of ‘The Dirty Picture’.

While talking to reporters during a promotional event, Vidya praised Naseeruddin Shah, she said, “The age difference did not matter much with him (Naseeruddin Shah). When you face an actor like Naseeruddin, he can make you believe in anything. He is a brilliant actor. And I have worked with Naseer saheb earlier. He is one of the living legends. You feel absolutely comfortable, I was not at all uncomfortable.”

“In such scenes, we made sure few people are there on sets. I knew it was required for the story to go ahead…it was part of the script.” she said.

Vidya also shared her experience of working with Naseeruddin, she said, “it was heart warming, especially while shooting ‘Ooh La La’ song. When we were dancing in the midst of oranges it was hilarious. We were laughing like mad, dancing between pots, posing like old sculptures. We had to roll down a slope. It is not easy, more than (getting) hurt, I couldn’t control my laughter.”

Vidya Balan is being appreciated by everyone, once the trailer and songs of her upcoming film are released. And the latest buzz in Bollywood is that the actress is asking more money for her next films.

Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar are supposed to act together in the sequel of ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’ which is titled as ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ but Vidya is demanding more money than the lead actor.

“Farhan’s dates and remuneration have still to be worked out. But the catch is that Vidya is asking for more money. Especially since her forthcoming film, The Dirty Picture, which revolves around her character, has generated high buzz. So it remains to be seen whether Farhan is agreeable to that,” says the source.

The source adds, “This time it’s a brand new story about how things change after a couple madly in love with each other, get married. Farhan and Vidya who have never been cast together before will make the concept more interesting. But certain things need to be worked out first to sign them on.”

Producer Rangita Nandy was not available to comment about it.

Vidya Balan has finished the shooting of ‘The Dirty Picture’ but the actress is still seen in her character. She says that her co-stars Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor are busy in their next film and Naseeruddin Shah is not open to promote it as much as it required “So Silk is still in me.”

For celebrating her mother’s birthday Vidya took a day off, she says, “On Sunday, we’d hosted a dinner at our Chembur house for almost a 100 guests, it was a welcome break.”

These days Vidya is dressing herself like the woman of 80s and she is happy the kind of roles she has done in her films, the actress says, “Lalita (Parineeta, 2005) and Krishna (Ishqiya, 2010) were perceived as sensuous while Silk is sexy because this time, the boldness is more sensual, whether it’s the dance moves, the clothes or the body language.”

When she was asked if sex symbol tag could stick with her, she replies, “I hope people connect with Silk and enjoy her unapologetic, uninhibited sexuality. But I’m sure when Kahani comes along in January, they will be as receptive to the six-months pregnant woman who takes on the world in search of her husband. Usually a woman-centric film like this revolves around the supernatural, but there’s nothing other-wordly about this thriller, it’s very real and raw.”

She also knows that people still love her Parineeta’s character Lalita, Vidya of Paa and Ishqiya’s Krisna. She says, “I hope they’ll remember Silk too but not just as a sex symbol. There’s more to her than just her titillating item numbers.”
