Sonam to leave her luxurious life

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor will have to the live the life of 1950s to get ready for her role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. She will be playing the role of a village girl who used to live in Punjab during 1950s and for portraying the character she will have to leave her gadgets behind.

Mehra has also found a village which will be good for the shooting of this film. He said, “We had to travel to the remotest corners of Punjab to find a place that resembles Milkha Singh’s birthplace Lyallpur, now in Pakistan.”

After finding good location now he wants their actors to live without gadgets. He explained, “We often tend to think shooting in black-and-white or sepia colours as reflective of period cinema. But that’s like drawing attention to rather than recreating the era. I want to merge into the era that we’re going into, not stand outside it by drawing attention to it.”

He added, “Sonam and Farhan have to feel like they belong to the 1950s, just as I’ve started feeling. Nowadays when I wake up, I am shocked to feel the chill of the airconditioner in my house. I am gradually cutting myself loose from all the luxuries we take for granted.”

Today Sonam Kapoor will celebrate her 26th birthday. Her Mom Sunita was in London but she flew back from there for celebrating Sonam’s birthday. Her dad Anil Kapoor couldn’t manage time from his shooting schedule and he is in Edinburgh.

Sonam says, “I will miss dad. Last year, he was shooting in USA but flew down to Scotland for my birthday. This year, he got stuck in London as shooting got delayed.

He will call me at midnight to wish me. Every year, we celebrate with balloons and cake and go out for dinner. This year, I am shooting for Mausam and won’t be able to go out for dinner. My parents haven’t given me a birthday gift for the last five years.

However, I look forward to gifts from my sister, Rhea. Every year she thinks of something special. But everyone gives books to me as I love them.”
