Genelia D’souza, the bubbly actress is currently busy in promoting her film ‘Force’ along with John Abraham. Recently she gave an interview and talked about her films, culture differene of south, her link-ups with co-stars and of course about her relationship with Riteish. Excerpts……
Your sizzling chemistry with John is talk-of-the-town…
l It is, isn’t it? We’re both very relaxed people and we don’t bother about our perfect profiles on camera and looking perfect onscreen. There are a lot of intimate scenes in ‘Force’. It’s an action film, but it’s also a love story between two mature people. There’s a lot of sensuality in the film.

You’ve done intimate scenes, but what about kissing on-screen?
I don’t think onscreen kissing is required in Indian cinema. Most of the times it’s done to attract eyeballs.

You’re often typecast for your cute, bubbly image…
I tried to break that with this film. My character is cute and bubbly but at the same time, it is very mature. People think being cute is being clueless. It’s not like that. Cute people aren’t dumb, and I want to prove that.

Your Bollywood films are far and few?
I want to do more Bollywood films, but I also want to do films down south. For me, the language isn’t the determining factor for choosing a film, it’s the role. I’m part of 5 different film industries within India, and that’s very rare.

So any plans of moving on to another industry, like Hollywood?
Sure, if I get a good role in Hollywood, I’d love to do it. But there are so many industries within India, so I’m happy exploring everything there is here.

When do we see you do a ‘Munni, Sheila’ number?
I don’t think doing an item number is a necessity, but I’ll do it if I’m required to. I won’t ever do a sleazy number.

Over the years, you’ve been linked with Riteish Deshmukh. Now we hear talks of a wedding…
Yeah, I think Riteish has over-powered all my other link-ups! I did my first film with him, and when you start your career with someone, you become friends. You aren’t co-stars because you don’t know what professionalism is, in that sense. So Riteish and I have maintained the friendship and if and when there is something to announce, I will announce it to the world

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza were seen together at the sets of their film ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. They have not announced their relationship officially but the buzz is that they are seeing each other for a long time.

They were very comfortable in each other’s company during the shooting of this film. They are shooting in Manali, their shooting schedule is tight but still they could manage to spend some quality time together. They watched Salman’s Bodyguard in a theatre in Manali and organised bash for cast and crew of the film.

Talking about casting them together, producer Kumar Taurani says, “We had Riteish in mind even while penning the script and when we narrated it to him, he jumped onboard immediately. For the female lead, we were looking for someone chirpy and bubbly and someone who would just look perfect with Riteish. Genelia fit the bill.The chemistry between the two is crackling.”

“I can’t comment on their personal life but Riteish and Genelia look really cute togther. Their chemistry shows in the film and works well for it too,” adds Kumar Taurani

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is being directed by debutant Mandeep Kumar.

During the shooting of film ‘Force’ pandit Bhagwat Guruji read out actual wedding mantra for Genelia and John’s wedding sequence. Now priest is saying that Genelia and Riteish cannot get married soon.

It seems pandit ji has created real trouble between real life to be couple Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh.

Priest says when he was reading Mantra for Genelia and John for the film force, he forgot that there are cameras and he read out actual wedding mantras. Now the priest is asking producer Vipul Shah to arrange his meeting with Genelia because he wants to make her understand the situation.

Known from a source, “There’s a scene in Force where the lead pair get married. Instead of a junior artiste, they called a real pandit for the scene.”
When pandit came to know about the marriage planning of Riteish and Genelia, he came to the producer’s office for registering a complaint. “He insisted that she couldn’t get married as she was already married to John!”

Pandit Bhagwat is saying that director Nishikant asked him to perform the rituals authentically, now he says, “John and Genelia are husband and wife. I need to make them understand that I have pronounced the mantras one does at a real wedding. Everything from wearing a mangalsutra, to exchanging garlands and taking the saat pheras has been done.”

Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah explains, “The pandit is now mad at us for getting him involved in this scene. He’s treating it like a real wedding, but I want to make him understand that that’s not the case. In my entire career, I’ve never experienced anything of this sort!”
