Vidhu Vinod Chopra apologises

Posted on 02 Jan 2010 at 7:01am

A day after he kicked up a row by losing his cool during a press conference on his latest film 3 Idiots, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has apologised for lashing out at the media.

Speaking at a hotel in Noida, he said, I was provoked into adverse comments. What I did was silly; I am extremely ashamed of my outburst. I never want to meet Chetan Bhagat again. I have already given him the money.

The controversy began when Chetan Bhagat, the author of the book Five Point Someone, claimed that the film is modelled on his book he was not given credit for the film. The filmmaker and actors though brush his claims aside, saying this is nothing but cheap publicity.

Whether a tongue-in-cheek remark or a social faux pas or sometimes even a deliberate attempt to create controversy – Indian film stars love to hog the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Here is a look at Bollywood’s most controversial quotes.

Shah Rukh Khan recently said, “I always wanted to be a porn star. I am going to work very hard, positively, with clarity to be a porn star. I will take my flag and put it up in America as the biggest porn star of the world.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan’s war of words is not new in Bollywood. More than a year ago, Aamir wrote on his blog, “Shah Rukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for? Now, before you jump to any conclusions, let me add that Shah Rukh is the name of our dog.”

SRK reacted to this saying, “Aamir has lost two of his fans as both my children loved him as an actor.”
Now, after more than a year, it’s difficult to say what prompted Aamir to apologise, but he did while launching a coffee table book. But Aamir was very careful with his choice of words, he said, “I haven’t apologised to Shah Rukh. But yes, I have apologized to his children.”

Sexy siren Sherlyn Chopra never feels shy from making statements which cause ripples in the film industry. In one of the interviews, she had said, “I don’t believe in sticking to the normal of 1:1 ratio thing. If you can heighten your pleasure in a ratio of 1: 3 or 2: 4, then why not? Do you think the Indian male is well-equipped to satisfy me?
