Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who has played different kind of roles in his films such as ‘Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’, ‘Bunty and Babli’, ‘Raavan’ and ‘Dhoom’ series says he wants to play intense character on-screen.

Recently Abhishek was asked if there is anything he has not done on-screen, and wants to do, he replied, “I’d love to do a tragedy, a classic Shakespearean tragedy, I have not done that. But right now I am really enjoying having fun. In between I went through a phase where I was doing very serious intense films and after that I just wanted to go out there and be uninhibited and do mad stuff, take out all that excessive energy. Which I am doing that right now. So you know when I do a Happy New Year, a Housefull or a Hera Pheri, I am enjoying that zone right now.”

He added, “I don’t know maybe after this phase gets over, I’d love to do something very intense and tragic.”

The actor was last seen on-screen in Farah Khan’s film ‘Happy New Year’ along with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan who recently walked on the ramp at Mijwan Fashion Show along with his mother Jaya Bachchan says he takes legacy very seriously.

The Mijwan Fashion Show, an annual event was organized by Shabana Azmi’s father Kaifi Azmi’s Mijwan Welfare Society.

Talking about the importance of legacy, Abhishek said, “Being a son myself, I know how much it means to keep the flame glowing for our parents. It means a lot to me for my own father (Amitabh Bachchan), I can only imagine for Kaifi Azmi sahib, what it must mean to have a daughter like this who is just doing such wonderful work in carrying the family name on.”

He added, “I take legacy very seriously, and I think it is something that is very important, and is something which unfortunately in today’s day and age, people don’t pay a lot of respect to.”

When Shabana Azmi revealed that his mother Jaya Bachchan would walk on the ramp for the first time, Abhishek said, “I never knew she is walking for the first time. I have suddenly become very nervous because I have to escort her down the ramp. I hope I don’t let her down.”

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is excited about his father Amitabh Bachchan’s debut as a commentator for the India-Pakistan match during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in February.

Amitabh will be in Adelaide along with other famous commentators such as Harsh Bhogle and Kapil Dev during the India-Pakistan match. The actor is taking up the role of a commentator as part of promotion of his recently released film ‘Shamitabh’.

Abhishek, who is also the producer of ‘Shamitabh’, was recently asked to share his view about his father’s commentary during the World Cup.

He said, “I think it’s a great concept and that’s the least you can expect from Balki (Shamitabh director R Balakrishnan). When we had this discussion in the marketing meetings, I thought it was a brilliant concept.”

He added, “To hear him commenting on the match should be a lot of fun and I’ve seen some the rehearsals they have been doing. He has been working hard and he is very nervous, but I think it’ll be very exciting.”

Directed by R Balk, ‘Shamitabh’, also stars southern star Dhanush and debutante Akshara Haasan in key roles.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan who turned a year older today says he likes to celebrate birthday while working on the day and spending time with his family.

Sharing his view about celebrating birthday, Abhishek said, “For me the best way of celebrating is to work. A birthday is a birthday. I like to spend my birthday with my family if I can. But it wouldn’t be a happy birthday for me if I’m not working.”

He added, “Every year since I started my career in 1998, I’ve made sure that I’m shooting. I remember I was shooting with J.P. Dutta Saab on my birthday. The only year I missed shooting on my birthday was the year when I was in New York promoting ‘Delhi-6?. I hope to continue working on all my birthdays.”

Abhishek’s 39th birthday will be special because his daughter Aaradhya will sing ‘Happy Birthday’ for him. Talking about his daughter, he said, “Aaradhya is the centre of our universe. She’s a wonderful child. All credit to Aishwarya (wife) for being a terrific mother. Fatherhood has completely changed my outlook to life. Bringing a child into the world changes all your priorities. I am sure every parent would agree.”

On bonding with his parents – Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, he said, “I’m close to both of my parents. But it’s a different equation with each. My father is more of a friend. I share a more traditional mother-son relationship with my mother. It’s very hard to differentiate between the two, but there’s a difference between my relationship with the two.”

The actor is interested in working his father megastar Amitabh Bachchan again, he said, “I’ve enjoyed each and every moment with him on camera. I’ve learnt so much from just sharing camera space with him. I can’t wait to work with him again. Who wouldn’t?”

He added, “Apart from a son wanting to work with his father who wouldn’t want to work with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan? I’m just excited at the thought of standing in the same frame as him. I don’t care if I don’t have a single dialogue.”

Expressing his feelings about his father’s 60th birthday, Abhishek said, “It was a memorable occasion. My mother’s book on my father was released, which, of course, was wonderful. But the occasion was momentous because we were celebrating a life that has achieved so much.”

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who was last seen on-screen in hit film ‘Happy New Year’ says he is excited about his wife Aishwarya Rai’s upcoming film ‘Jazbaa’ which will be directed by Sanjay Gupta.

Aishwarya was last seen on-screen in 2010 in ‘Guzaarish’. She was blessed with a baby girl in November 2011, since then she did not take up any film project.

Expressing his feelings about Aishwarya’s upcoming film, Abhishek said, “I’m very excited to see Aishwarya in ‘Jazbaa’. It should be a lot of fun. It’s a great script. I love Sanjay Gupta as a director and I think they’ll make a fantastic team… it’s always wonderful to see her on screen.”

‘Jazbaa’ is an action thriller and it also stars Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi in important roles.

Veteran actress and politician Jaya Bachchan who was seen at a book launch event for writer Shobhaa De in Mumbai says latest released film ‘Happy New Year’ is nonsensical film.

Directed by Farah Khan, ‘Happy New Year’ features actors Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani and Viaan Shah in it. Though the film has done the business of more than 150 crore at the box office but Jaya spoke her heart out at the event.

She said, “’HNY’ is the most nonsensical film I’ve seen in recent years. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he’s a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that.”

She added, “I can’t be part of what is being done in films these days and hence, I don’t do films anymore. Cinema today is about business, not art. We call good films art house cinema. What does that even mean? All cinema is art.”

‘Happy New Year’ has also received bad reviews from the critics but audiences have liked the film.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says his granddaughter Aaradhya takes after her mother, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Revealing interesting facts about his almost three-year old granddaughter Aaradhya on his blog, Amitabh wrote, “Abhishek takes after his Mother, in a very obvious manner, though temperamentally he is more like me. Shweta’s children are all Nanda’s, her husband’s family and Aaradhya has a lot of Aishwarya and a bit of Abhishek when young in her, for the moment, and some elements of the Rai’s, Aishwarya’s parents.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned a year older today. She got married to actor Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 and gave birth to daughter Aaradhya in 2011.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan who has done many multi-starrer films in the past and his upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’ is also a multi-starrer says he likes doing ensembles films and he is secure as an actor.

On doing a multi-starrer movie, Abhishek said, “Yes, I like doing ensemble films. I don’t categorise a film whether it’s a solo or a multi-starrer. I feel when an actor is a part of an ensemble film, he makes equal contribution to it. I think you all will be bored of you see only me on-screen because I am a very boring person.

He added, “I feel solo hero film is not an actor’s credit, it’s a team process. Everybody who works on a film is a part of success of that film… I am very secure as an artiste.”

The actor will be seen in the role of a thief in Farah Khan’s upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’. Sharing his experience about the film, he said, “The experience of being a part of Happy New Year has been very gratifying. It has been a lot of fun. Playing Nandu Bhide is a huge challenge and I hope when you see the film I can convince you with my role. If I can play a cop then I can play the other side of the law as well.”

Abhishek will be seen sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Viaan Shah in the film which is slated to release on coming Friday.

On working with Shah Rukh, he said, “Shah Rukh is an elder brother. I know him much before joining the film industry. He is a family to us. He is a brilliant actor and working with him is a great privilege for me.”

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who owns Kabaddi team Pink Panthers says the success of the Pro Kabaddi league was beyond his imagination.

Abhishek’s team won the inaugural addition of Pro Kabaddi league and the actor was very happy about it. When the actor was asked if success meant that some teams would be added, he said, “The success this league received was beyond imagination and we are holding the second addition in coming March but as of now there is no need to increase the number of teams in the league.”

He added, “We have a three year contract with the franchises and we want to give them time to settle down. Increasing the number from existing eight is not possible at least for three years and it might be possible when the next auction takes place.”

On launching a women’s Pro league, he said, “Work is also going on for looking the possibilities of launching a women’s Pro league too.”

The actor thanked his players for winning the league, he said, “The Pro Kabaddi league was the second most viewed event and Kabaddi-kabaddi has reached far corners of the world.”

He added, “I was in Rome recently and met old friend English Footballer Ashley Coles. He surprised me by calling me Kabaddi -Kabaddi. He too was aware that Pro Kabaddi has arrived on international sports scene.”
