Actor Abhishek Bachchan who has done many multi-starrer films in the past and his upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’ is also a multi-starrer says he likes doing ensembles films and he is secure as an actor.
On doing a multi-starrer movie, Abhishek said, “Yes, I like doing ensemble films. I don’t categorise a film whether it’s a solo or a multi-starrer. I feel when an actor is a part of an ensemble film, he makes equal contribution to it. I think you all will be bored of you see only me on-screen because I am a very boring person.
He added, “I feel solo hero film is not an actor’s credit, it’s a team process. Everybody who works on a film is a part of success of that film… I am very secure as an artiste.”
The actor will be seen in the role of a thief in Farah Khan’s upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’. Sharing his experience about the film, he said, “The experience of being a part of Happy New Year has been very gratifying. It has been a lot of fun. Playing Nandu Bhide is a huge challenge and I hope when you see the film I can convince you with my role. If I can play a cop then I can play the other side of the law as well.”
Abhishek will be seen sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Viaan Shah in the film which is slated to release on coming Friday.
On working with Shah Rukh, he said, “Shah Rukh is an elder brother. I know him much before joining the film industry. He is a family to us. He is a brilliant actor and working with him is a great privilege for me.”
Abhishek is the son of megastar Amitabh Bachchan and talented actress Jaya Bachchan and his wife is world’s most beautiful woman.
While talking to Niranjan Iyengar at a chat show, Abhishek expressed his feelings for his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He said, “Aishwarya is my anchor. She is my buddy, my closest friend. I can discuss anything with her. Our relationship is not based on her being Aishwarya Rai or me coming from an illustrious family. It is just about two people falling in love which has organically grown. We started during Guru. It was meant to be.”
Abhishek’s team won the inaugural addition of Pro Kabaddi league and the actor was very happy about it. When the actor was asked if success meant that some teams would be added, he said, “The success this league received was beyond imagination and we are holding the second addition in coming March but as of now there is no need to increase the number of teams in the league.”
He added, “We have a three year contract with the franchises and we want to give them time to settle down. Increasing the number from existing eight is not possible at least for three years and it might be possible when the next auction takes place.”
On launching a women’s Pro league, he said, “Work is also going on for looking the possibilities of launching a women’s Pro league too.”
The actor thanked his players for winning the league, he said, “The Pro Kabaddi league was the second most viewed event and Kabaddi-kabaddi has reached far corners of the world.”

Actor Abhishek Bachchan who is sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in their upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’ says he advised Shah Rukh to make a film on late Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand and play the lead in the film.
On making a film on Dhyan Chand, Abhishek said, “A sportsman whose life will be fantastic on screen is Major Dhyan Chand. It will be an unbelievable story. These are the stories that need to be told. I told Shah Rukh Khan to make a film on it and play the protagonist, because he looks a lot like him.”
He added, “If you see his photo…Just need to change Shah Rukh`s hair a bit. Shah Rukh was a hockey player. I think he will be fantastic.”
Interesting thing is that SRK too has played hockey, football and cricket in his school days and earlier he was approached for playing lead in a film based on the legendary sportsman but the film was never made.
Abhishek, who owns a Kabaddi team Jaipur Pink Panthers says he wants to make a film based on it in future. He said, “I would love to do it in the future but not right now. The history of Kabaddi is fantastic. It has his origin in Mahabharat..It is over 3,000 years old. So you can get a lot of exciting content but let it build, then we will think of making it. If you do it (make the film) right now and if it doesn`t work then it becomes disappointing. So let Kabaddi get that recognition and then I would love to do it (make a film on it).”
Talking about his father, Abhishek said, “There was, is and will always be only one Amitabh Bachchan. No one can reach that level… and that is why he is called ‘Big B’. He is my father and I am ‘Junior’ Bachchan.”
The actor was in Jaipur to review the preparations of his Kabaddi team–Jaipur Pink Panther.
When he was asked if there was any competition between him and his father because currently Amitabh is seen on TV show ‘Yudh’ and Abhishek is working for his Kabaddi team. Abhishek said, “There is no competition. I always discuss and consult things with him before doing it and seek his blessings. I have seen the serial (Yudh) and he is doing great. Here, I am busy with my team and looking after them.”
Abhishek revealed that his father had taught him Kabaddi in childhood and he also played it during his student days in Delhi. He said, “My father is very excited about the league and my new role as the team owner. He also wanted to come to Jaipur to see the preparations but he could not make it and hopefully he and my other family members are expected to visit Jaipur during the match.”
