Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film, Heroine, is continuously in news. The news is that Madhur’s first choice, Kareena Kapoor, opted out from the movie because of the intimate scenes. After that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was contacted for the lead. The film maker met with Aishwarya informally. Rumour says that the two met only after he modified the script to suit Aishwarya’s sensualities. Co-producer UTV wants the content to be toned down too because Aishwarya is unlikely to sign the film in its original form. “Heroine is a special film for Madhur and he isn’t going to change the script for any actor,” a source says. “If he had to alter the storyline, wouldn’t he have done so for Kareena? He feels that the basic essence of his hard-hitting story (reportedly based on the lives of Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Eva Gardner) will be lost if he fiddles with it too much.”
UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapoor admits that lots of guessing is being done for Heroine. “We definitely want to make a film with Madhur, but nothing is finalised yet,” Siddharth says. Aishwarya’s publicist says nothing has been finalized yet. Aishwarya has liked the subject but she will hear a formal narration of story.
“She wants to work with Madhur says source. ‘Heroine’s story is based on the rise and fall of an actor who refuses to believe her reign is over, and her relationship with five men. “Madhur is still wondering why Kareena opted out thinking the script resembles her life. Let’s see if things work out with Aishwarya,” says the source.
