Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been ordered to pay a deposit of $200,000 to an Indian court in order to secure release of his upcoming film ‘Ra.One’.
Reports are that SRK and his production company have been accused of violating copyright on his film Ra.One.
Yash Patnaik a TV scriptwriter says that Ra.One was his concept initially and he should get the 10% profit of the film.
Ra.One is slated to release on October 26, Diwali day. Film will be released worldwide on the same day and it is expected to be a huge hit at the box office.
The news is that Shah Rukh Khan will most likely pay the deposit so that he can release the film on time. Once Shah Rukh will pay the deposit then court will hear copyright issue of Ra.One at a later date.
While passing the order, Chief Justice Mohit Shah and judge Roshan Dalvi said that it was “unfortunate that people in the film industry use others’ concepts and then don’t want to pay or give them credit”.
Patnaik’s lawyer said that his client developed the concept about an Indian superhero in 2006 and talked about it with Ra.One’s scriptwriter, Mushtaq Sheikh. Even Patnaik claims that there are many similarities between film’s hero and the character he created.
But Ra.One’s lawyer says that both the stories are different.
Earlier director Anubhav Sinha has told in an interview that he discovered initial idea for Ra.One in 2005 after watching a “commercial with two kids controlling a human being with a remote”.
Ra.One’s director has described the film as being a “sci-fi, comedy, romance, father-son relationship, superhero, good over evil fight to save the world”.
Lawyer also enquired Patnaik that promotional campaign for the film began in January 2011 and why he filed the case of copyright issue at the last moment.
“The prints have been delivered worldwide and it is not possible to hold back the release,” they said.
Well Shah Rukh Khan has dared to make the most expensive film of Bollywood, lets hope that all gets well.
