Retired Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar has claimed in his biography ‘Controversially Yours’ that when he was joining the IPL, he was betrayed by then IPL commissioner Lalit Modi because he made him agree to join SRK’s KKR for money which was less than what he was offered in the now-defunct ICL.
Shoaib Akhtar says further that he should have not considered the advice given by Shah Rukh on the matter.
When Shah Rukh Khan was contacted about Shoab’s claim, he said, “I don’t know all this. I did not cheat anyone.”
Akhtar has said in his book that, “Shah Rukh and I talked about my not being happy with the money settled on me. Shah Rukh and Modi got me to agree. I should have never listened to Modi and Shah Rukh.”
