So far we have seen many films of Imran Khan. First film ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ showed him as chocolate boy but when he worked in ‘Delhi Belly’, it changed his image. And now his upcoming film ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ will show him as a small-town boy who started loving his brother’s bride.
But Imran doesn’t believe it as an easy transition. He explains, “Initially, I had doubts about whether I was making the right choice, but I loved the way director Ali Abbas Zafar pitched the film. It is heavily inspired by the director’s life. He is a Dehradun boy and won’t compromise on his morals.” He added, “MBKD is not like DB. While DB was underplayed, MBKD is loud. The style of humour is different.”
Imran accepted MBKD because it shows him as a completely different person. He says, “I’m an introvert and this movie is in a very desi setting. I had to come out of my shell for the film.”
Talking about Katrina Imran says, “I said that this film will prove she’s not just a pretty face. This is her best performance so far. She is very impressive in the film.”
He further talked about Katrina’s nature, firstly he thought that she’s “very reserved and shy.” “One has to spend time with her to know her better. Once you get to know her, you find that she’s a cool person to hang out with,” says Imran.
MBKD is being compared with the 1975 Dharmendra-Amitabh Bachchan starrer Chupke Chupke but Imran rubbish these rumours, Imran says, “These rumours have probably surfaced because the director is inspired by films from that era.”
He also informed that how come Pakistani actor Ali Zafar got role into this film. He says, “I tried to get a good actor for a crucial role and Ali made the character very likeable. Actually, it was the director’s idea to bring Ali on-board. He is a charming guy and a lot of fun to work with.”
Imran was also asked if he consulted Aamir about his role in MBKD, he replied, “I don’t consult Aamir about the roles I do.”
