Famous ghazal singer Jagjit Singh passed away in Lilavati Hospital on Monday morning. He was 70 year old. He suffered brain haemorrhage and was admitted to the hospital on Setember 23. A surgery was performed to save him.
Jagjit Singh was also called as ‘The Ghazal King’. He and his wife Chitra Singh used to sing ghazal together and were very popular among audiences.
He was able to sing in many languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Nepali and was awarded with Padma Bhushan. He has also sung for few movies such as Tarqeeb and Sarfarosh.
