Since viewers have watched Freida Pinto’s skin tone in L’Oreal’s latest campaign, they are expressing their view against the French cosmetic brand L’Oreal. L’Oreal is again making news for the wrong reason; it has been accused of altering actress Freida Pinto’s skin tone.
“Her skin does look on the lighter side, but is it just the lighting? Or Photoshop?” asks the paper.
“Do you think L’Oreal needs to stop whitewashing its stars?” asks a gossip blogger, Oh No They Didn’t. “Why can’t we realise that these beautiful ladies are perfectly gorgeous the way they are?” says a user named Mary. “If they wanted a white model, they should’ve just used one,” says Sareelove.
L’Oreal denied these allegations and issued a statement on Thursday which said, “This is with reference to certain incorrect reports on the internet about L’Oreal Paris lightening Freida Pinto’s skin-tone in the campaign ‘Colors Take Flight Project Runway’. L’Oreal Paris strongly reiterates that Freida Pinto’s skin-tone in the campaign has not been altered in any way.”
“This campaign was meant to highlight Freida Pinto’s make-up colors applied on her eyes and lips. Thus, some powerful studio lights with ring-flash have been used for this purpose to create a runway effect on the picture. There has been no whitening retouching process whatsoever on her face,” it added.
Frieda Pinto has been L’Oreal Paris spokesperson since 2009.
Earlier also it has been blamed for lightening the skin tone of its models. Once it was accused for using airbrushed pictures of Aishwarya Rai for one its campaigns.
