
Now Amir has come back from Berlinale, He is very keen to watch Bengali film ‘Egaro’ on DVD.
Aamir Khan not only likes Bollywood, he even likes regional cinema. News is that Mr Perfectionist is keen on watching the just released ‘Egaro’ (The Eleven), a Bengali film which is based on the historic IFA Shield victory of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club of Calcutta against East Yorkshire Regiment of England by two goals on July 29, 1911.
If sources are to be believed, a special screening of the film was going to be organised in Mumbai sometime back and it was postponed because Aamir had to leave for the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, there he was a jury member. Now Aamir is busy with Reema Kagti’s next, in which he plays a role of cop, Aamir has still not given up of his interest to watch the Bengali film. The story goes back a little, when Aamir had spoken to Sourav Ganguly and expressed his desire to work on the same subject.
In the meantime, work on “Egaro” had already started and Sourav got Aamir introduced to Anilava Chatterjee, co-producer of the film. Anilava says, “Even when Aamir came calling on Sourav during the promotion of “3 Idiots”, he admitted to be interested in a sports film and wanted to work on subjects like the golden history of football or hockey. I had sent him all the research work that we had done on IFA Shield victory, back then. Aamir kept in touch and now, he wants the DVD of “Egaro” to be sent to him.”
Aamir, has also worked earlier in a sports movie directed by Ashutosh Gowariker “Lagaan” in 2001.
