Huge campaign that has been designed around the strong essence of love that My Name Is Khan carries. As a part of this, Shah Rukh would be travelling across the country and pop this question to the aam janta. This would be his way of connecting with people who are waiting to catch him in My Name Is Khan,” Karan, who has produced and directed the film, told IANS.
“…The idea of asking people ‘How far would you go for love?’ should be quite enticing for many out there. It should be a good participative exercise,” the filmmaker added.
My Name Is Khan, which is being marketed and distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures, is about Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh), an autist, who is mistaken for a terrorist while travelling in the US. Karan, Shah Rukh and Kajol have teamed up so far for candy-floss movies…so how come they decided to opt for different kind of cinema?
“I just felt that cinema is maturing with every passing year and I should move on with the times as well,” Karan said with a smile.
“If I am constantly going to try and woo the audience with a certain kind of cinema without doing something that is entirely different, what’s the point in sitting pretty in the position where I currently am? Why not use it for my own advantage and make something really fresh…I truly believe that if you are motivated just for the sake of it, you would get caught eventually. You can succeed only if you have a very strong conviction backing up your thought.”

Written by Vishal Bharadwaj, Chaubey and Sabrina Dhawan, Ishqiya gives us a love
triangle unlike any we’ve seen before.
Two petty thieves, uncle Khalujan, played by Naseeruddin Shan and his nephew Babban, played by Arshad Warsi, are on the run after double-crossing their boss. When all other avenues for shelter dry up, they land up at the house of a friend only to be told that he is dead. His widow Krishna, played by Vidya Balan, takes them in. What follows is an incredibly tangled tale of love and longing, guns and deceit.
You know you are in for a roller coaster ride the minute the film starts. The standard disclaimer that the film and its characters are fictional informs us that characters kafi hadh tak imaginary hain.
It will take you several minutes to adjust to the terrain and the language but Ishqiya seeps in like slow intoxication.
Chaubey keeps the pacing brisk and the humor, crisp. He skillfully shifts notes going from suspense to laughter in a blink. And the dialogue, by Vishal, is pitch perfect.
Krishna, who is described as a desi tamancha and a sutli bomb, plays the men like an organ.
Both uncle and nephew fall inexorably in love with her. Khalujan conducts an old-world romance, listening to her sing and in a lovely scene, even peeling garlic in her kitchen. Babban is aggressively sexual but the poetry of their love is underlined with danger. You are always aware that nothing is quite what it seems.
Ishqiya would have faltered if the performances had not matched the writing but all three leads are absolutely terrific.
A must see movie
Sania Mirza and Sohrab who got engaged in July last year, reportedly realized that they were incompatible and agreed to go their separate ways.
Deepika Padukone began dating co-actor Ranbir Kapoor, her co-star from the film Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) but the couple broke up in November 2009.
Rumours are that Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor was never comfortable with the relationship and that seems to be the main reason for their split.
The Shahid-Kareena breakup is among the most controversial splits of Bollywood. There were accusations of Amrita Rao and later Vidya Balan coming in between the two. But it was actually Kareena’s increasing proximity to Saif Ali Khan, which led to the breakup.
It is inevitable for Ash and Salman to feature on a list of nastiest Bollywood breakups. In one of the ugliest and most public splits that Bollywood has seen, Ash and Salman called it quits after two years of romance, accusations of coercion, assault and the likes.
After Aishwarya’s split with Salman she got Viveik’s shoulder to cry on. The two also did a film together but their relationship also did’t last too long and Ash said bye bye.
One of Bollywood’s most-talked-about breakup till date is between Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. The two did a number of films together and their ‘relationship’ was the talk of the town for a while, especially after the casting of both Rekha and Jaya Bachchan opposite Big B in Silsila. Things obviously turned ugly because now they don’t even acknowledge each other.
The Akshay Kumar-Shilpa Shetty breakup is also a dark mark over Bollywood. There were accusations of cheating and of some serious defamation on both sides.
Another terrible breakup was between Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor. Even before Abhi entered Bollywood, he was engaged to Karisma. However, the engagement was called off due to inexplicable reasons and the Bachchans and the Kapoors swore never to see eye-to-eye again.
Sushmita Sen has always been very open about all her relationships. Her first relationship that came to limelight was with her first director Vikram Bhatt.
After her break off with Vikram Bhatt, Sushmita fell in love with a hotelier Sanjay Narang. Both Sushmita and Sanjay used to make public appearances like a couple and looked very much in love, but their relationship didn’t last long.
Just after her break up with Sanjay Narang, Sush started seeing Sabeer Bhatia, the head of Hotmail.com. Apparently, Sabeer Bhatia even gave her a diamond ring, but Sush preferred to maintain the “just friends” tag for Sabeer Bhatia.
After Sabeer Bhatia, Sush fell for a newcomer Randeep Hooda. Both were seen at parties and also spotted shopping together. But like her other past relations her affair with Randeep didn’t last long and both mutually called off their relationship.
After being described as the steadiest couple in Bollywood, and after eight years of being together, Lara Dutta and Kelly Dorjee also parted ways. There were reports that the couple had been having fights very often.
Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra is all set to reprise her role of femme fatale Roma in the sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s 2006 Don-The Chase Begins Again.
Though it was always on cards that Shah Rukh Khan would feature in Don 2 which is expected to pick up from where the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan
starrer Don left, there was always mystery around the presence of the leading lady in the film.
However, Chopra, who recently won the National Award for the Best Actress for her role in Fashion, has confirmed her presence in the sequel.
“Yes, I am doing Don 2. Ever since I worked in the first movie, I was looking forward to being on board for the sequel as well. It would be good to be a part of Don 2 as it is an action thriller,” Chopra told PTI from the US where she is currently shooting with Ranbir Kapoor for Siddharth Anand’s Anjaana Anjaani.
Chopra reportedly learnt martial arts for her role of revenge thirsty Roma in the film, who tries to woo Don, played by Shah Rukh, to avenge the death of her sister.

STRIKER SIDDARTH
Director: Chandan Arora
Cast: Siddharth Narayan, Aditya Panscholi, Vidya Malavade, Padmapriya
Producer/Director: Indian Films-Studio 18
Release: on February 5
Set in a Bombay ghetto in the mid ‘80s and based on true-life accounts, Striker is a story of triumph of human spirit over indomitable odds. His patience and cool attitude are Surya’s biggest strengths. But life has ways of testing even the strongest of men! From the director of Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, and top-lining Siddharth Narayan (of Rang De Basanti fame), Striker is the story of a carrom player who grows up on the fringes of a criminal existence but does not succumb to it.
Striker is not about good versus evil.It is the story of a friendship, life in the city of dreams in the 80s, and of a game that is common but non-existent. Quite similar to pool (conceptually), carrom is common among people from the middle and lower income groups in India.
Born into a poor family, ‘Surya’ played by actor Siddarth grows up with few luxuries. Poor health keeps him away him away from school and that is when his elder brother introduces him to carrom.
Winning the Junior Carrom Championship at 12 is not enough to keep Surya’s fire for the sport burning through adolescence. Hopes for a job in Dubai replace the passion for carrom, as Surya grows into a young man.
